School district announces online and on-site registration information

The Darlington County School District (DCSD) is rolling out new features for the online registration system, allowing parents with returning students to significantly reduce the time spent at on-site school registrations.

Parents with students who will be new to DCSD must still register their child at the school during on-site registration.

PowerSchool Registration opened July 15, and will allow parents with returning students to complete registration online, significantly reducing time spent at the schools.

This year parents will also be able to pay fees and submit proof of residency, two areas that tend to slow on-site registration at the schools.

Parents who register online will still need to visit their child’s school during on-site registration on July 29-Aug. 1 for parking, technology, health matters, bus transportation, and school-specific information, as well as pay fees or provide proof of residency if they did not do this online.

Parents with students who will be new to DCSD must still register their child at school during on-site registration. As a reminder, a tax notice, landline telephone bill, a bill for cable service that is connected to the residence, or a utility bill such as water, gas and electric will be accepted as proof of residency.

Neither a cellphone bill nor a driver’s license will be accepted as proof of residency.

In order to use online registration, parents will need login credentials for each student. Login credentials called “SNAPCODES” are being emailed to parents of returning students.

Some schools may also mail letters.

Parents can also obtain login credentials as well as login assistance by calling the registration hotline, available through July 18 and July 22-25 from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each day.

The number is 843-398-2236.

Parents who already have a ParentPortal account can access registration forms via ParentPortal.

New students, including 4K and 5K students not previously registered, must be registered at the school during on-site registration.

In order to register a new student, parents and/or guardians must bring the following materials to the school during on-site registration:

— Proof of residency: A tax notice, a landline telephone bill, a bill for cable service that is connected to the residence or a utility bill such as water, gas and electric will be accepted.

A cellphone bill and/or a driver’s license cannot be used as proof of residency.

— Immunization record.

— Birth certificate.

— (For 4K only) Proof of income/S.C. Healthy Connection Medicaid Card. A registration slot for 4K will not be reserved for a child without documented proof of residence and proof of income.

Available slots are limited and preference is given to those students whose family meets state income requirements.
On-site registration will be held July 29-Aug. 1.

Schools and grades vary depending on the day.

For more information, please contact the individual school that your child will attend.
