Rosenwald Reunion set for September 21-23
For the first time in the 39-year history of the biennial Rosenwald School Reunion, the event will be held in September this year; previously, it was held the first weekend in November.
This reunion welcomes any former elementary/middle or high school student, faculty, staff or friend of Rosenwald. It includes a Friday Tailgate on Lake Darpo in Society Hill starting at 4 pm. Also new this year is the first Rosenwald Festival that will be held Saturday, September 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on St. David’s Field, Main Street, Society Hill. The festival will feature band performances; an entertainment stage with local dance and singing groups; food vendors; a showcase of Rosenwald Elementary Middle School talent; games and activities for children; and much more. The event is open to the public with no admission fee.
The Reunion banquet will be held Saturday evening, September 22nd at 7:30 p.m. at the Florence Civic Center. The first Rosenwald Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented. Additionally, four new members will be inducted in the Athletic Hall of Fame; and the classes of 1967 and 1968 will be in inducted into the Order of The Golden Eagle. The semi-formal event will be replete with live music and entertainment.
The Reunion continues Sunday morning with a Worship and Remembrance Service to be held in the Robert C. Gerald Auditorium on the Campus of the Rosenwald Elementary Middle School in Society Hill. The service includes a memorial candle lighting service and a featured guest speaker and music. The Reunion culminates with a full luncheon at the school.
