Man held on 8 counts of attempted murder
A man was being held in the Darlington County jail on eight counts of attempted murder in connection with a May 29 shooting incident at the Byerly Park basketball courts in Hartsville.
Marquis Zandui Hawkins has been denied bond on all eight charges, county jail records show. Hawkins, whose name has also been listed as Marquis Zamudi Carraway Hawkins, was being sought by the Hartsville Police Department.
Gunfire apparently was exchanged between two groups of people after a black sedan drove through the park and stopped at Washington Street, according to reports. Police found about 20 shell casings in the area.
