Increase of threatening graffiti at schools
The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office provides eight School Resource Officers for the Darlington County School District. Since March 5, SROs have reported three incidents of graffiti being found written on restroom walls that convey a threat of violence. Deputies continue to investigate these incidents. The School District was provided with additional Sheriff’s Deputies today.
“The safety of children is my top priority and we will not tolerate this behavior,” stated Sheriff Tony Chavis. “I encourage all parents, grandparents and loved ones to speak with their children to let them know there are serious consequences for these acts.”
The Sheriff’s Office will continue to work closely with the School District to monitor and investigate any threats. If you have any information concerning a threat you are asked to call 911 immediately.
