Hartsville man charged with distributing child-sex material

A Hartsville man has been arrested on three charges connected to the sexual exploitation of a minor, according to the office of South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson.
James Michael Dees Jr., 25, was arrested June 1. He is charged with three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, second degree, a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment on each count, Wilson’s office said.
Investigators received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) that led them to Dees. Investigators state Dees distributed files of child sexual abuse material.
Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Attorney General’s Office made the arrest. Investigators with the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations and U.S. Secret Service, all members of the state’s ICAC Task Force, assisted with the investigation.
