Event marks milestone for new Judicial Center

Judges and city and county officials on June 24 took part in a ceremony to mark a milestone in the construction of the new judicial center in downtown Darlington. They signed their names to the last beam that will be placed in the building before work starts to focus on the walls and ceilings – known in construction as a “topping-off” ceremony. Here, officials including Clerk of Court Scott Suggs assemble on a stairway in the still-under-construction building. Among the officials taking part in the ceremonies were County Council Chairman Bobby Hudson, Darlington Mayor Curtis Boyd and County Administrator Charles Stewart.
