Members of Pee Dee United Elks Lodge #1679 and Excelsior Temple #790 visited The Lord Cares Food Bank of Darlington last Thursday to deliver a donation of non-perishable food items and paper products.

“We wanted to get together and do something for the community. We’re all about the community, children, senior citizens, and people in need,” said Christy Williamson, Daughter Ruler of the Excelsior Temple #790.

“The Elks organization is built on friendship, brotherly and sisterly love, and also benevolence. Today is an outreach program that we plan on doing frequently to represent the Elks of the world and give back to the community,” said Kevin Brown, past Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge #1679.

The Lord Cares Food Bank is accepting donations of non-perishable food, paper towels and bathroom tissue, hygiene products, and other items to assist families with proven economic need. To donate, visit them Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 10 a.m. – 12 noon at 271 Grove Street in Darlington. Also visit them online at www.thelordcares.org
