Edward Colgate Dennis
Edward Colgate “Chip” Dennis, III, age 73, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022, from a brief illness. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 27 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the home of Pete and Judy Dennis, 1532 Woodspond Road in Darlington. A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Wednesday, September 28 at Saint Matthew’s Church in Darlington, with burial following in Grove Hill Cemetery.
Born on October 6, 1948, Chip is the son of the late Edward Colgate Dennis, Jr and Jane Hill McKinnon Dennis. He graduated from Brandon Hall, attended Newberry College, and then served in the United States Army. After returning home, he graduated from Florence-Darlington Technical College and worked as an accountant under his late father-in-law, Harold Jaillette. He continued to own and operate Dennis Tax Service throughout his life.
He was married to the late Ann Jaillette Dennis, who was the love of his life. He was a member of Saint Matthews Church, where he served on the Vestry, was a member of the Men’s Bible study group, was always in the kitchen for the Shrove Tuesday pancake supper, and was active in the Cursillo movement.
He loved Jesus, loved his family, and loved his country. He was an avid outdoorsman who lived to be on the water, loved fishing, hunting, and camping. He held a lot of titles: son, brother, friend, husband, father, Pappy, and the infamous “Baitman”. He was a friend and mentor to many young people over the years.
Surviving are his children, Edward Colgate “Pete” Dennis, IV, his wife Judy, and Elizabeth “Bess” Harry, her husband Brice, grandchildren: Laurel Ann Dennis, John Edward “Jed” Dennis, Wilson Elizabeth Harry, and Clara Louise Harry; a sister, Lacy D. Chapman, brothers-in-law: Harold “Hoss” Jaillette, Sam (Connie) Jaillette, sister-in-law, Mary J. Altman, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Stanley Eugene Drawdy
Stanley Eugene Drawdy, age 68, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 after a brief illness. The family received friends on Saturday, October 1 from 2:00 until 4:00 in Belk Funeral Home. A memorial service was held on Sunday, October 2 at 3:00 pm in the gymnasium at Hannah-Pamplico High School. Following the service, the family greeted friends at the Raider Stadium.
Stan was born in Fairfield, California on May 5, 1954. He is the son of Harvey Eugene Drawdy and Merle Louise Camp Drawdy. After graduating from Francis Marion University he became a science teacher and coach at St. Johns High School. He then moved to Hannah-Pamplico High School where he worked in many positions including athletic director, coach, teacher and assistant principal. It was during this time that he earned his Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University. He was also a professor for the United States Sports Academy and owner of Drawdy Properties. Dr. Drawdy was an accomplished author having published two books and was currently working on his third. He was a talented musician/song writer and was a member of a blue grass band named “Special Breed”. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Pamplico First Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his parents of Darlington are, his wife, Janice Drawdy, son, Brad (Holly) Drawdy, daughter, Katie (David) Royall, grandchildren: Nickolas Taylor, Tatum Royall, Dayton Royall, TJ Drawdy, McKenzie Drawdy, great-grandchild, Dawsii Stanley Taylor, brother, Ricky (Ann) Drawdy, sisters; Tami (Lee) Tucker and Tiffni Jo Drawdy, and several nieces and nephews.
