Deputy involved in vehicle collision

Darlington County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to an armed robbery in progress in the Hartsville area of Darlington County at approximate 6:45 p.m. Jan. 16. A Patrol Deputy en-route to the incident traveling west on W. Bobo Newsom Hwy. with his emergency lights and siren activated entered the intersection of Kelleytown Rd. and was struck by a vehicle.

The Patrol Deputy was transported to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The driver and a passenger of the other vehicle did not receive any major injuries.

The vehicle collision is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
