Deputies investigating Lamar homicide
Darlington County Sheriff’s Deputies continue to investigate a fatal shooting that occurred April 14 at the Cambridge Apartments in the Lamar area. Deputies, with the assistance of the Hartsville Police Department, were able to locate the suspect, Devon Demarco Rembert, 17, of Hartsville.
Rembert has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Rembert appeared before a Darlington County Magistrate and was denied bond.
Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee has ruled a death a homicide. Germaine McCoy, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene.
