DDRA gives winners $100 gas cards for #shopdarlington
Director of Darlington Downtown Development Association (and City Planner) Lisa Chalian Rock gives winners their $100 fuel cards that they won for participating in the DDRA #shopdarlington for the Christmas season this year. Johnson, a native of Lamar who now lives in Darlington, said that it was easy to participate in the shopping inititiave because she enjoys shopping locally. “I like supporting the merchants in town.” Lawhon was encouraged to participate by his Mom, and said, “I’m glad she did!” Chaplin will give the gift card will be given to his daughter, who is attending the University of South Carolina. “It’s important for all of us to shop locally, not just at Christmas!” said Chaplin.
Rock said the shopping initiative was positive, and that most participants found it easy to accumulate five receipts for purchases between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The DDRA plans to do the project again next season.
