Neil Martin, 18, of Darlington, graduating from Darlington High School while also attending Darlington County Institute of Technology:
“I’ve completed three years at Darlington County Institute of Technology. I’m a completer in Welding I, II and Blueprint Reading. I’m also a completer in Electricity I, II and III. Some accomplishments I’ve had – in the spring, we went to Greenville and competed in Skills USA, and I (won) first place in Electrical Construction Wiring. … I have an internship with Sonoco Products Company in Hartsville right now. … We do a little bit of everything – hands-on working with machines, electrical work, welding, pipe welding, all kinds of stuff. It’s a great opportunity to learn a whole bunch of skills, hands-on out there in the field. … After graduation, I will continue working with Sonoco, and I will be going to TEC for two years for Industrial Maintenance, to get my Associate’s degree. Then hopefully I can pursue life at Sonoco, make it a career.”
