The organization focuses on certifying individuals to provide peer support services for those struggling with substance use disorder. Often affiliated with or referred to in the context of the Addiction Professionals of South Carolina, the program equips trained recovery professionals to walk alongside individuals on their path to healing.
The organization’s mission extends beyond supporting those in active recovery. CARPS SC also works closely with families who are navigating the challenges that accompany addiction. By offering peer support, advocacy, and education, the program aims to strengthen not only individuals but the broader community.
Specialists shared that recovery is not a one-size-fits-all journey, and having certified peer support professionals available locally can make a meaningful difference. The program supports individuals who are seeking recovery as well as those working to maintain long-term sobriety.
In addition to direct support services, CARPS SC is part of a broader community recovery effort that includes advocacy initiatives and community education programs designed to reduce stigma and increase awareness about substance use disorder.
