Belk-Gardner wedding

We joyfully announce the marriage of Mary Elizabeth Belk and Bryant Pickens Gardner, which took place at half past 6 in the evening on June 22, 2019, at Saint Matthews Church in Darlington.

Rev. H. Fredrick Gough officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of James and Patsy Belk of Florence. She is a graduate of Coastal Carolina University and Francis Marion University, currently working with the students of Florence 1 schools as an English for Speakers of Other Languages teacher.

The groom is the son of John and Elizabeth Gardner of Darlington as well as the late Pamela Jo Griffin of Florence. He is a graduate of Wofford College and proudly serves as a member of City Council in Darlington. He is also the owner of Concrete Coatings of the Carolinas.

John Gardner, father of the groom, served as the Best Man. The groomsmen were Burt Hughes and Wade Hughes, brothers of the groom, and lifelong friends Cal Scott, Tim Mahoney, Rush Lowther and Brenton Dana. Ushers were Quinton Gray, brother-in-law of the groom, and Jaby Belk.

Peden Gray, sister of the groom, was Matron of Honor. The bridesmaids were a collection of the people who have been special to the bride throughout her life: Anna Cate Wentzell, cousin of the bride, Katie Cracraft, Alivia Scarborough and Macy Sprott. Yesenia Carter was Guest of Honor. Emma and Thomas Hughes, niece and nephew of the groom, served as Flower Girl and Ring Bearer.

The bride was a vision in a chapel length veil and a timeless sweetheart ivory ball gown that featured a stunning keyhole back with illusion lace.

She carried a cascade bouquet of white hydrangeas, light peach peonies and blue thistle. She was given in marriage by her father. The bridesmaids wore full-length, steel blue gowns and carried white hydrangeas.

The groom and groomsmen wore closely cut, dark blue plaid suits and stark white shirts.

The groom wore a white paisley tie while the groomsmen wore complementing navy paisley ties. Their lapels were set off with blue thistle and white berry boutonnieres.

Their union was followed by a celebration at South of Pearl in Darlington. The Bride, Groom and their families are eternally grateful for all of those who shared in their joy for this day.
