After 2 shooting incidents, police hear gunfire from 3rd

Hours after responding to two separate shooting incidents, Hartsville police officers heard gunfire from a third shooting scene where as many as 40 bullets might have been fired, officials said.
The incidents took place early June 7. The initial reports of shootings came from Jasper and Marion avenues; the third came from Sumter Street.
On their way to Sumter Street, officers saw an SUV driving away from police, according to reports. Three people inside the vehicle abandoned the SUV near E Street; one person reportedly was run over by the SUV while trying to escape it. Apparently not seriously hurt, he ran off with the others, reports said. A Sumter Street house appeared to show “pockmarks in the brick as if the house had been in a war zone,” an incident report said.
