Hartsville man dies in crash
A Hartsville man died Sunday from injuries in a motorcycle crash, officials said. James Carl Springer died on Fifth Street when the cycle he was driving collided with a car. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee.

Leaders in Training complete program
Completion day was July 11 for a group of Darlington County School District students enrolled in the Leaders in Training (LIT) program supervised and founded by Capt. Kimberly Nelson of the Darlington Police Department. Certificates were handed out by Darlington Public Safety Director Kelvin Washington.
