Officers with the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office cook for the community last week at Spaulding Middle School in Lamar. The DCSO has been cooking free hot dogs and hamburgers for local communities throughout the summer in a program called Operation Lunch and Fun. School district hires director of elementary education

The Darlington County School District has hired Celestine LaVan to be the new director of elementary education. Since 2013, LaVan has served as the principal of Joseph Shanklin Elementary School in Beaufort County School District.
