Family members from California, New York, Virginia, Florida and all over South Carolina converged on Shoney’s Restaurant in Hartsville over the weekend to celebrate the 100th birthday of their beloved patriarch, Johnny Davis of Lydia.

Child killed in vehicle crash
A 6-year-old Darlington child was killed in a Jan. 4 crash, according to media reports. Sha’Niyah Roary, a second-grader at St. John’s Elementary School, died in the incident, according to the Darlington County coroner’s office. The crash took place on Greenfield Road near Brooks Drive. Media reports say the child died when the vehicle driven by her father hit a tree. Funeral services were Jan. 9.
