County gets landfill/recycling info from Horry County
Darlington County Council convened a special work session on December 7 to receive information from the Horry County Solid Waste Authority about how that agency handles their waste collection, disposal, and recycling operations.
Light a Light Christmas Tree
On December 7th Mayor Tony Watkins joined members of the Pilot Club of Darlington and guests in front of the City Administration Building for the lighting of the Light-A-Light Christmas tree. The tree’s lights are symbols of the donations made to the Pilot Club in honor of or in memory of special people.

Lamar lights keep tie to Christmases past
‘Tis the season to haul out those Christmas decorations and festoon every door and window, every rail and post, with the colors of the season – and with the advent of affordable LED lighting, operating those massive tangles of holiday lights is cheaper than ever. But one Darlington County town has stubbornly refused to hop on the Light Emitting Diode bandwagon and each year the Town of Lamar still puts up old-school colored incandescent lighting, criss-crossing Main Street with glowing rainbow hues.
