Meet the Dancers!

The 4th Annual Dancing with the Stars of Darlington County fundraising event will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the Center Theater in Hartsville. Each dance team, a local celebrity paired with a professional dancer, has been hard at work perfecting their routine. A People’s Choice Award winner will be named based on the number of votes purchased by fans before and during the event. Votes can be purchased for the People’s Choice Award at the DWTS website, www.darlingtoncountydancingwiththestars.com.

Dancing with the Stars is a major fundraising effort with proceeds going to the Pee Dee Coalition to assist victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault.

Tracee Auman (Professional) & Charles Govan (Celebrity) – Dance Style: Waltz (Choreographer: Tracee Auman)

Tracee Auman is a graduate from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Advertising and a minor in Dance. She is a former competitive dancer with Brenda Cranford School of Dance and a former member of the USC Modern Company. She has been teaching dance for over 10 years. She is employed as the Technology Facilitator at Hartsville High School. Tracee is married to Donnie Auman, and they have one daughter, Carmen.

Charles Govan graduated from Clafin University with a degree in Social Studies. He began his career in education as a coach and teacher at Edgewood High School and then returned to school to obtain his Masters in Social Work from the University of South Carolina. He later became a Probation Counselor with the SC Department of Youth Services. Charles returned to education to be a teacher with Lee County School District and Marlboro High School. Currently, Charles Govan serves on several boards including the Jerusalem Baptist Church Trustee Board, Darlington County School Board, SC School Board’s Board of Directors, and SC School Board’s Insurance Trust Board of Directors. He is happily married to Carolyn McCoy Govan. They have three children, Michelle Govan-Seymore, Wanda Govan-Augustus, and Dione Govan, and four grandchildren.

Shelbey Gray (Professional) & Franklin Jeffords (Celebrity) – Dance Style: Samba (Choreographer: Shelbey Gray)

Shelbey is a freshman at Coker College. She has been dancing at Brenda Cranford School of Dance since she was two and is currently a teacher there.

Franklin Jeffords is a Hartsville native, HHS class of 1989 graduate and Lander University alumnus. Franklin also served honorably after college as a Sergeant in the United States Army. He is marred to Michelle Jeffords and is the dedicated father of two amazing and typically raucous red-headed boys, Deuce (8) and Dair (6). Franklin is proud to work at Nucor Steel, is an avid Gamecock fan, enjoys Shag dancing in his free time, and also finds a little time for hunting on the side.
