Women’s soccer signs new Cobras for 2018-19 Class

The Coker College women’s soccer program had five recruits sign their National Letters of Intent to play for the Cobras. Each letter represents a new member of the Navy and Gold family and the first signees under first-year Head Coach Thom Jones.

Coker adds Skyler Jorgensen, a midfielder and defender from Summerville, S.C. At Summerville High School with the Greenwave, Jorgensen was a three-time soccer captain and was also a state qualifier in cross-country. A member of the Summerville Soccer Club, Jorgensen is a two-time State Champion and has three regional appearances. An AP student on a sports medicine track, Jorgensen holds a 4.0 GPA and is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, the Spanish Honor Society, and an athletic trainee. The Daughter of Sharon Jorgensen, Skyler intends to major in biology. She has two siblings, a sister Madison, and brother Jakob.

Mikayla Pless also joins the Cobras, hailing from Northwestern High School in Rock Hill, S.C. Coming to Coker as a defender, Pless was a four-year starter for the Trojans. A member of the Discoveries Soccer Club, Pless was a 2017 state finalist and 2016 state quarter finalist. The Daughter of Scott and Melissa, Mikayla plans to major in early childhood education. She has one brother, Noah.

Kailee Smith will suit up in the Navy and Gold as well. A defender from Fort Dorchester High School in North Charleston, N.C., Smith was a member of the GPS NASA travel team, where she was a 2017 state champion. Planning to major in early childhood education, Kailee is the daughter of Amy and Randall Lewis. She has one sister, McKenna.

Additionally, Caelan Colaiacovo joins the ranks with the Cobras as a defender. Coming to Coker from James River High School in Midlothian, Va., Colaiacovo was a 2017 6-A Regional Finalist, 2017 state quarter finalist and was voted Most Valuable Rapid her freshman year. With the Richmond Kickers Elite travel team, Colaiacovo was a WAGS Champion. She was named to the Honor Roll all four years, a member of the National Honor Society and the Beta Club. Caelan plans to major in biology with a concentration in pre-dentistry. She is the daughter of Mike and Kim. She has two brothers Michael and Joey.

Coker also picked up Alex Brown, a forward out of Charlotte Christian School in Charlotte, N.C. Brown was named to the Honor Roll and a member of the Young Republicans and Dog Bless You Clubs. The daughter of Alexandra Brown, Alex plans to major in criminology.

“I am certainly excited to bring these great athletes here to Coker,” Head Coach Thom Jones said. “We have a lot of excellent talent and we are continuing to build upon our strengths, which helps cultivate the culture we are establishing.”
