Williamson Park 5k Run/Walk

Dozens of runners, walkers and their four-legged friends trekked through Darlington Oct. 6 for the 14th Annual 5K Run and Walk for Williamson Park.

Beginning on the city’s Public Square, the course took the racers down Cashua Street, through the scenic Williamson Park, then back up the Cashua hill toward the finish line.

After a friendly warning about mosquitoes from race director Lee Andrews of Darlington County Parks and Recreation, complementary insect repellant was provided and liberally used by most racers.

Overall winner Leon Dewitt of Darlington finished with a time of 23:34, and first female finisher Donna Bethea clocked a time of 28:25.
