Where is this in Darlington County?

Where is it in Darlington County

Last week’s photo was of a print of a photograph of the celebrated Doolittle Raider from Darlington, Billy Farrow, hanging in the downstairs of the City of Darlington Administration Building on Pearl Street, across from Piggly Wiggly.

Readers that guessed correctly were: Jim Stone, Darlene Jackson, Dawn Mixon, Bill Segars, Ruth Flowers, Ann Easterling and Suzanne Muldrow.

Suzanne share the sweet story behind the photo with us, and gave us permission to share with readers:

“The photo in the paper this week is there due to the efforts of Mincy Copeland. She wanted a picture of Billy Farrow to hang in the Darlington Administration Building near that of our other Darlington hero, Elliott Williams. She asked me to help her by finding a photo that we could have copied and enlarged for framing. It was my privilege to head over to the Historical Society. Of course, the good folks there had just what we needed. Mincy provided the information she wanted put on the plaques, and Russell Spradley of M&M Art did a beautiful job of framing the photo. The News and Press printed a nice picture of those who attended the unveiling ceremony.”

Last week I missed Ann Easterling’s name for guessing the mural of native Americans on the Darlington Amusement Company building, sorry Ann!

Can you guess where in Darlington County this week’s photo was taken? Please send your guesses to: editor@newsandpress.net or call 393-3811. Good luck!
