Eunice Howle Tucker

Eunice Howle Tucker, age 86, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2017. Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Saturday, November 18th at The First Church of God of Darlington, with burial following in Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home. The family received friends from 12-1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Mrs. Tucker will remain at her home from noon on Friday until Saturday morning.

Eunice was born in Darlington, SC on February 1, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Robert Howle and Nina Barefoot Howle. She was educated in the public schools of Darlington, and worked for many years at local industries, including Dixie Cup, Inc. Eunice was a lifetime member of The First Church of God of Darlington, and was a strong Christian woman.

Eunice married Bobby Lee Tucker, Sr. of Darlington on December 24, 1947. Together they raised a beautiful family and built two successful businesses, Tucker’s Used Cars, Inc., and Tucker Enterprises Trucking Company. Eunice and Bobby would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year.

Eunice Tucker was a smart and strong businesswoman, an upstanding member of her community, and most of all, she was a loving, dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Eunice Tucker was the heart of her family, and she always put everyone else ahead of herself. She will be remembered for her generosity and the strength of her spirit, and she will be greatly missed by those who love her.

Surviving are her children, Rachel (Tony) Anderson, Marilyn (Punk) Bonnoitt, Carolyn (Eddie) Goodson, all of Darlington, and Lee (Tami) Tucker of Florence; her grandchildren, Sonia (Charles) Bailey, Tia (Eddie) Matthews, Tiffni (Chad) Owens, Justin (Jaby) Talbert, Josh (Kendall) Talbert, Bobby (Tracy) Goodson, Dorene Goodson (Patrick) Bouska, and Tamilee Tucker; her great-grandchildren, Andrew Talbert, Kaelin Talbert, Zackery Talbert, Joey Goodson, Aiden Bouska, Trevor Bouska, Elayna Bouska, Christina (Blake) Caudle, Ashley (Kris) Lambert, Brooke Bailey, Anthony Matthews, Sheridan Matthews, CJ Owens, and Chase Bailey; her great-great-grandchildren, Jackson Bailey, Paisley Caudle, and Kali Rae Lambert; her sister, Barbara Suggs; and her special friends, Jerry and Sandra Bryant, and Janet Hancock.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lee Tucker, Sr. on October 2, 2017; her daughter, Eunice Gail Tucker; her great-grandchildren, Tyler Chase Talbert, and Caroline Grace Bouska; her brothers, Robert, Hollis, Otis, Carey, and Ellis Howle; and her sister, Louise Howle Anderson.

Bill Brewer

William “Bill” L. Brewer, age 91, died Friday, November 17, 2017 in a local hospital. A Graveside service will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, November 20thin Florence National Cemetery, with Full Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until 12:00 noon on Monday at Belk Funeral Home.

Born in Sumter on June 11, 1926, he is the son of the late Richard Lawrence Brewer and the late Rachael Mable Wells Brewer. He served in the Unites States Air Force, retiring after twenty years of service. Mr. Brewer then drove trucks for Mercury Motors in Florence. He also enjoyed fishing when he had time.

He is survived by two daughters: Barbara Griggs of Darlington, Linda (Carl) Jones of Summerville, two sons: Richard “Dicky” (Brenda Gayle) Anderson of Columbia and Jerry T. (Shirley) Anderson of Hartsville, ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mayble McDonald Brewer and was the last surviving sibling of a family of eleven.
