Johnny Bell

Funeral services for Mr. Johnny Lee Bell, of Norfolk, Virginia formerly of Darlington were held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Bethel A.M.E. Church.

Interment followed 2 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2018 at Florence National Cemetery directed by Jordan Funeral Home, Inc. of Darlington.

Those who will continue the celebration of his life are: his two sons, Johnny Jr. and Traevone Bell of Norfolk, VA.; his siblings, Mamie Loretta (Bobby) Cherry, Roosevelt (Shirley) Bell, Jeanette Bell-Upson, Robert Lewis, Barbara (Leroy) Burgess, David Bell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him deeply
The family is receiving friends at the residences of his brother and sister, 414 and 416 West Broad Street, Darlington.

Deborah Carnes Harllee

Darlington – Deborah Lynn Carnes Harllee, age 60, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 in McLeod Hospice House in Florence. A memorial service was held 3 p.m. Saturday, May 12 in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home. The family received friends from 2-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Born April 20, 1958, Deborah is the daughter of the late Myrtis Carnes and Betty Sanders Carnes. She was a graduate of St. John’s High School, and then attended nursing school. She enjoyed nursing and retired as a LPN for McLeod Hospital after 30 years. Deborah was a member of Central Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir and working in the nursery.

Surviving is her daughter, Jennifer (Russell) Biering; grandchildren, Kayli, Chase, and Kamryn; nephew, Ron Carnes; nieces, Amber Carnes, Paige Carnes, and Jessie Carnes. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ronald “Ronnie” Carnes and Johnny Carnes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, 512 Spring St. Darlington, SC 29532.

Judith Mims

Darlington – Judith Powell Mims, age 67, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 in McLeod Hospice House. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 16 at First Baptist Church in Darlington, with burial following in Magnolia Cemetery. A visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Belk Funeral Home.

Born December 25, 1950, Judith is the daughter of the late Andrew E. Powell, Sr. and Kathleen Orr Powell. She retired from Darlington County School District where she worked as a teacher for 34 years. She enjoyed spending time at the beach, and enjoyed shopping. Her best days were spent being “Gommie”, taking care of her Sparkleberry Sunshine Caryss, Marshmallow Mermaid Ellisyn, and two rambunctious boys, Brooks and Colson. Judith was a member of First Baptist Church in Darlington.

Surviving are her husband, Gary Mims; daughters, Schuyler (Mike) Conard of Macon Georgia and Haylea (Daniel) Jordan; grandchildren, Brooks Conard, Colson Conard, Caryss Jordan and Ellisyn Jordan; sister, Janice (Terry) Lee of Georgia. She was preceded in death by her brother, Andrew “Ervin” E. Powell, Jr.

Leslie Albert Timmons

Darlington – Leslie “Les” Albert Timmons, age 58, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018. Funeral services were held 4 p.m. Monday, May 13 at Temple Free Will Baptist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery. A visitation was held 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Belk Funeral Home, and other times at the home, 417 Lawson Rd. Darlington.
Born January 29, 1960, Leslie is the son of Stella Wisenhunt Timmons and the late Harold W. Timmons. He was a devout Christian and a faithful member of Temple Free Will Baptist Church where he served in the Master’s Men, served as an usher, and a street evangelist.

In addition to his mother, Stella Timmons, he is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” Lewis Timmons; son, Joey Timmons; daughter, Ashley (Jo Jo) Evans of Darlington; two grandchildren; Jaxton Hodge and Conner Kitchen; step-daughter, Jessica Roberts, three brothers, Dennis (Sandra) Timmons, Randy Timmons, and Bobby Timmons, and many nieces and nephews; and Ann Harrison who was like a second mother to him.
