Ralph Amon Richardson

Ralph Amon Richardson, husband, father, and dear friend to all, passed away on July 14, 2017, in Society Hill, SC. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday, July 17th at Welsh Neck Baptist Church in Society Hill, with burial following in the church cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home. A visitation was held Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born January 8, 1947 in Society Hill, Ralph was the son of Eltie and Bessie Truitt Richardson. After serving in the National Guard, Ralph worked for over 40 years as an Inspection Supervisor at Galey & Lord, where he was loved and respected by all who worked with him.

Known for his warm, infectious smile and friendly, outgoing manner, Ralph had a wonderful sense of humor and was always able to find a silver lining, no matter how dire the situation. Devoted friends numbered in the hundreds. His love for his home, his town, his church, his cattle, and his farm was deep and true. His passion for, and devotion to his family, especially his wife and two sons and their families, was immeasurable. He was a loyal member of Welsh Neck Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and sang in the choir.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elaine Frye Richardson; sons, Wade (Spring) of Southport, NC, and Ryan (Sara Ashley) of Greenville, SC; two grandchildren, Caroline and Landon; sister, Shirley (Mike) King of Peachtree City, GA; a special aunt, Anna Dean Frye of Bennettsville, SC; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless special friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Lewis Richardson; and his sister, Rita Vaughan.

Happy Clark

Mary “Happy” Louise Gandy Clark, age 74, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 15th at Temple Free Will Baptist Church, with burial following in Darlington Memory Gardens, directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Born June 2, 1943, Happy is the daughter of the late Hobson “Hop” Gandy, and Laura Atkinson Gandy. She was a devoted housewife and enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. Happy was a member of Temple Free Will Baptist Church, and loved to help raise money for missions, and enjoyed attending Temple Treasures.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, George E. Clark, Jr.; her daughter, Angie (Rev. Bill) Dority; her son, George Clark, III, both of Darlington; her grandchildren, Kyle Clark and his fiancé Rachel, Anna Dority, Jake Clark; her great-grandchildren, Chloe, Lexie, Aiden, and Riley. Also surviving are her sisters, Jessie Lewis and Motie (Buddy) Brown; two very special friends, Jeanette Odom and Marilyn Garrison; her canine companion, Muffin, and her feline companion, Smoke.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her great-grandchild, Alexa Kaye Clark; her siblings, Marion Coleman, Laura Smith, and Hobson Gandy.

The family received friends Friday, June 14th from 6-8 p.m. at Belk Funeral Home, and other times at her home, 501 Mineral Springs Rd. Darlington.

Mary Beth Tyson

Mary Beth Blackman Tyson, age 68, died Friday, July 14th at a local hospital. A Celebration of her life took place at 5 p.m. Monday, July 17 at Darlington Presbyterian Church. The family received friends from 4 until 5 p.m. Monday in the church fellowship hall, directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Born in Darlington on October 15, 1949, she is the daughter of the late Robert Noah “Bubba” Blackman, Sr. and the late Mary Beth Benton Blackman. For over 25 years, Beth was a scrap coordinator at NUCOR Steel in Darlington. She loved working in her yards, watching boxing and football, and spending time with her son. She will be remembered as a lady with a giving heart who always enjoyed cooking and baking, and then giving away her baked goods, especially during the holiday season.

She is survived by her son, Noah Tyson and his fiancé, Gretchen McInville of Darlington; a sister, Louigene (Kenny) Hodges of Lamar; a nephew, Jonathan Benton Carter, a great-niece, Elizabeth Carter, and her faithful canine companion, Yoda.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Noah Blackman, Jr.

Hannah Jean Bonaparte

Elder Hannah Jean Bonaparte, a daughter of the late Leroy and Annie Black was born on October 20, 1947 in Darlington, SC. She departed this life on July 11, 2017 after an illness. Elder Bonaparte was educated in the Darlington County Schools. She graduated in the class of 1966 from Mayo High School. She obtained her cosmetology license after graduating from Chris Logan Beauty College. She always had a love for children, which led her to become a child daycare provider.

Elder Bonaparte was a faithful member of The Door of Hope Christian Church. She served in several different auxiliaries in the church. She was actively involved with the prison ministry at Palmer Work Release Center. She was a scholar of the Word of God, a prayer warrior, and a mighty Praiser!!!

Elder Bonaparte was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers, Oscar Black, Ronald Black, David Black; and sisters, Rose Shepherd and Mary Black.

With cherished memories she is survived by: her children, Carol Roberts(Ron), Israel Bonaparte(Eileen) and James Bonaparte Jr.(Anita); eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren; three sisters, Sara Haywood, Gloria Alford, and Lenora Burgess; three brothers, Thomas Black(Barbara), Robert Black, and Chris Black along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and special friends.

Funeral services for Elder Bonaparte were held 1 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2017 at The Door of Hope Christian Church, 401 Martin Luther King Blvd., Marion, SC 29571.

Viewing was held at Jordan Funeral Home, 108 Lee Street, Darlington, SC, 29532 on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Monday from 12:00 noon- 1:00pm at the church.

Interment followed the service at Faith Memorial Gardens in Darlington directed by Jordan Funeral Home, Inc.

The family received friends at the residence, 517 East Broad Street, Darlington.
