Vactor Truck comes to Darlington

City of Darlington Water and Sewer Department employees put the new Jet-Vac vactor truck to work during Hurricane Florence. The truck, acquired in July for $367,359, is a combo vehicle with a high-pressure water jet that breaks up blockages and a powerful vacuum to pull water and debris into a 2,500-gallon tank. The truck can also be used to clear sewer pipe blockages, which are dumped at the wastewater treatment plant. Storm water is dumped at the city’s Street Department, and debris is dried and taken to the county landfill. The truck is cleaned between operations so no cross-contamination with sewer material occurs.
