Two events planned to Clean Up Darlington

Darlington City Council proclaimed April 2015 as Clean Up Darlington Month. Residents are encouraged to take special care in April to clean, fix, paint, and landscape their properties; pick up litter on their streets and in their neighborhoods; join one of the two Community Clean Up events in April; or assist an elderly or disabled neighbor with their property this month if they are able.

1. Clean Up Day in Darlington:
The Kalmia Garden Study Club and the City of Darlington are hosting a “Clean Up Day in Darlington” event on Saturday, April 11th from 8 a.m. – 12 noon. Meet at the Greater Darlington Chamber of Commerce Office on 38 Public Square. Bring work gloves and eye protection and wear clothing that can get dirty. Refreshments will be available for all volunteers. Rain date is: April 18th.

2. Great American Cleanup:
The City of Darlington will partner with Keep Darlington County Beautiful for the annual Great American Cleanup on Saturday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to noon. Keep Darlington County Beautiful will provide gloves, trash bags, and t-shirts for this litter collection event.
Meet in the morning at Cain Elementary School and the City Street Department, 586 W. Broad St., Darlington where staff will direct groups of volunteers to the chosen areas.
