Two Breast Cancer Awareness events to be held

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness of breast cancer risks, the value of screening and early detection, and treatment options available to women and men who are diagnosed with one of the many forms of breast cancer. According to Everyday Health, more than 249,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with invasive breast cancer every year and nearly 41,000 die from the disease.

Please join in a community awareness event Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. at the Darlington Recreational Center, 300 Sanders St. in Darlington. Speakers will include Tracey O’Neil, a nurse navigator at McLeod Health and Ginny Edwards with McLeod Health Breast Imaging.

Another community awareness event will be held Oct. 28 at 10:30 a.m. The guest speaker will be Tracey O’Neil. Francis Marion University Praise in Motion dance ministry will perform. This event will take place at Agape Worship Center, 706 Smith Street, Timmonsville.
