Tech Stingers sweep region rival Louisburg

The Florence-Darlington Technical College Stingers won all four games (4-2, 3-1, 3-2 and 4-3) on Saturday and Sunday, sweeping Region 10 rival, Louisburg at Sparrow Stadium.

Mullins’ Weston Rogers won the game on the mound in the 4-2 victory over Louisburg during the first game on Saturday. He pitched for seven innings, striking out five batters and only allowing four hits. Dax Roper led the way at the plate for the Tech Stingers as he was 2-for-2 with three RBI.

Mark Leonard was the winning pitcher in the second game of the doubleheader on Saturday. Leonard pitched for six innings, as he struck out five batters and allowed three hits. Dillon’s Josh Price earned the save. Rafi Vazquez was 2-for-4 with a RBI. Roper was 2-for-2 with a run.

In the opening game on Sunday, the Tech Stingers won 3-2. Evan Odum won on the mound. Odum pitched for six innings, and he struck out five batters and allowed six hits. Once again, it was Price earning the save. Vazquez was 2-for-3 with a two-run homerun. Summerville’s Gabe Austin added a solo homerun.

In the final game of the weekend, Sumter’s Tradd James earned the 4-3 win over Louisburg in relief. Price earned his third save of the series. Tanner Mann had a two RBI double. Conway’s Reid Hardwick was 2-for-3 with a RBI.

The Tech Stingers are now 35-11 overall and 15-3 in Region 10.

On April 18, the Stingers will travel to Bolivia, North Carolina to play Brunswick at 3 p.m. On April 21-22, the Stingers will travel to Allendale to play Region rival, USC Salkehatchie at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. both days.
