Special Olympics Day at Darlington High School

Hundreds of athletes and their buddies converged on Darlington High School Wednesday, April 11 for the Area 1 Special Olympics. Events included shot put, a softball and tennis ball throw as well as several races. Some athletes and their supports sported special shirts just for the event or wore their school colors to show their pride.

As the host school, Darlington students helped light the torch signaling the start of the games and sang the National Anthem. Darlington JROTC presented the colors.

There were smiles, high fives and cheers all around as the athletes enjoyed the events and a chance to show off their skills.

Over four hundred athletes were signed up to attend, the most the Area 1 event has ever had.
