Sister Hazel to headline Freedom Fest at Darlington Raceway

Excitement is building as the calendar gets closer to Saturday, July 4th and Freedom Fest at Darlington Raceway. As an added bonus to the event’s already stellar reputation, this year the nationally known and beloved group Sister Hazel has signed on to be the headlining act for Freedom Fest 2015. “We’re bringing back this local favorite Fourth of July festival for the second year in a row and we’re upping the ante on everything,” Hannah Stanley, Executive Director of the Greater Darlington Chamber of Commerce revealed.

The chamber has been working diligently over the last several months in preparations for the event, which will increase tourism and benefit the economy of the City of Darlington and surrounding areas. Some of the night’s plans include a Cruise-In sponsored by Raceway Ford and Chevrolet, in which the participants will take a lap around the “Lady in Black.” The Festival will also boast a Kids Zone full of bounce houses, bounce obstacle courses, a rock climbing wall and more! Darlington County Sheriff Wayne Byrd and his deputies also plan to bring the department’s K9 Unit, will be offering to finger print children, and will be displaying tactical vehicles, including a 21 foot boat, an MRAP armored vehicle, jet skis, and patrol cars. Sherriff Byrd comments, “It’s a great family event and we look forward to it growing bigger and better this year.”

Music will fill the air throughout the entire evening. Radio personalities from 103X (WJMX 103.3) and Eagle 92.9 (WEGX 92.9) will be broadcasting live from Darlington Raceway. Local favorites will also be performing: Noah Stanley, Consumed, and Morgan’s Road open up the stage leading up to Sister Hazel’s performance.

The chamber also plans to spotlight our military with special appreciation events. The evening is scheduled to end with the most spectacular fireworks show in all of the Pee Dee. East Coast Pyrotechnics will be filling the night’s sky with a brilliant, beautiful display that will last over 20 minutes.

Everyone is invited to this free admission event on Saturday, July 4th from 4 to 10 p.m.

“We are so grateful to the City of Darlington for their Presenting Sponsorship as well as Darlington Raceway, the Sherriff’s Department, iHeartMedia, Raceway Ford and Chevrolet, and many others for making Free admission to the community possible.” added Stanley.

The Greater Darlington Chamber of Commerce would like to remind all guests that while no pets, umbrellas, tents, coolers, alcoholic beverages, or concealed weapons are permitted, guests are encouraged to bring tailgating chairs and sealed unopened bottles of water.
