Shugart appointed Chief Operating Officer for Carolina Pines

Sue Shugart has been named Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, according to Tim Browne, Chief Executive Officer (CEO). As Chief Operating Officer, Shugart will have operational oversight for the hospital’s laboratory, pharmacy, imaging services, cardiopulmonary services, rehabilitation services, food services, environmental services, engineering services and security.

Having worked in hospital leadership roles for 19 years, Shugart brings significant experience to her new position. She comes to Hartsville from Easley, SC, where she served as Chief Administrative Officer at Baptist Easley Hospital. Prior to that, she served as Chief Operating Officer for Clarendon Health System in Manning, SC.

Shugart earned her bachelor’s degree from Furman University and her master’s degree from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. She is board-certified in healthcare management as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on the national Council of Regents as representative for South Carolina.
She and her husband, COL (Ret) Steve Shugart, have three children. She enjoys singing, community theater, boating and other outdoor activities with family and is active in her church.
