Sheriff announces promotions

Darlington County Sheriff Tony Chavis has announced the promotion of two Deputies. Lt. Kaynnera Capers has been promoted to the rank of Captain. Cpl. Valerie Freeman has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.

“These two Deputies have served the people of Darlington County extremely well,” Chavis said. “I look forward to their continued dedication to this community.”

Cpt. Kaynnera Capers served in the United States Marine Corps for fifteen years and law enforcement for ten years. Cpt. Capers has a Master of Business Administration and has served as the Lieutenant of Administration since January 2017.

Lt. Valerie Freeman has sixteen years of law enforcement experience. Lt. Freeman was sworn-in last year by
Sheriff Chavis and has served in the Special Victims Unit as an investigator.
