Pate Elementary Principal Lunn retires

The Darlington County Board of Education accepted recently the resignation of Emily Lunn, principal of Pate Elementary School. Lunn will retire at the end of the school year from a long and esteemed career in the Darlington County School District (DCSD).

Lunn spent most of her 29 years in DCSD at Pate Elementary.

She worked there as an exceptional education teacher, a first grade teacher and a coordinating teacher. She also served as a coordinating teacher at Brunson-Dargan Elementary School, the district’s testing and early childhood coordinator and the district’s federal programs director. She worked as Pate’s principal for the past five years.

“Mrs. Emily Lunn spent three decades dedicated to improving the lives of the children of Darlington County,” said Dr. Bill Boyd, DCSD interim superintendent. “While we are losing an exceptional educator and leader, we are happy for Mrs. Lunn to enjoy her well-deserved retirement.”

Remarkably, Lunn attended Pate Elementary as a student, taught at Pate and will end her professional career at Pate. She has a husband, Kem Lunn, and two children, Megan and Travis.
