Louise Odom Davis

DARLINGTON – As the last surviving sibling of nine, the daughter of Raleigh G. Odom and Corria K. Odom, Louise Odom Davis of Darlington, passed away weeks shy of her 103rd birthday on Thursday, June 27, 2019, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services were June 29 in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home with burial at Darlington Memory Gardens. The family received friends Saturday at the funeral home.

Family members recall Louise sharing fond memories of her many years working at Darlington Manufacturing (the Cotton Mill) and Dixie Cup in Darlington.

During her retirement years and up into her 90s, she enjoyed being outside attending to her flowers.

She loved spending time with her family and sitting on her porch appreciating God’s creations.

Louise loved and served the Lord throughout her life and was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Darlington.

She is survived by her son, Al Davis (Lyle) of Greenville, N.C.; her daughter, Brenda D. Byrd of Hartsville; three grandchildren, Rhesa Tucker (Danny) of Greenville, N.C., Fran Byrd of Columbia and Amanda Matthews (Andy) of Florence; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings; her husband, Carl Davis; her son, Larry Davis, and grandson, Kevin Byrd.

The family would like to thank the staff of Medford Nursing Center for their years of taking care of Ms. Davis.

Also, the family would like to express their appreciation to the medical staff at McLeod Hospice House for their care during her last days.
