Nationally ranked Lady Stingers win 18th consecutive game

NJCAA Division II No. 14 ranked Florence-Darlington Technical College Lady Stingers continued their impressive winning streak as they travelled to defeat Richard Bland on Friday and Bryant & Stratton on Saturday.

On Friday, the Lady Stingers defeated Richard Bland 4-3 in seven innings. Winning pitcher Marissa Tyndall struck out six players and only allowed one walk and six hits.

Hanna Gainey was 3-3 at the plate, and Shelby Cox was 1-3 with two runs batted in.

Tyndall also earned the win in the second matchup against Richard Bland on Friday as the Lady Stingers won 9-4 in seven innings. She struck out three players. Tyndall also allowed four walks and six hits.

Erin Bailey was 2-2 with two hits, two walks and one run batted in.

The Lady Stingers continued their winning ways on Saturday as they defeated Bryant & Stratton 15-1 in only five innings. Tyndall won the game on the mound. She only pitched one inning. Tyndall struck out one batter. Tori Alexander pitched four innings, striking out one batter and allowing a walk, two hits and a homerun.

Cox was 2-2 with a double, a triple, two walks and three runs batted in. Kristina Lee was 1-3 with a walk and two runs batted in.

Tyndall completed the weekend sweep on the mound as the Lady Stingers beat Bryant & Stratton 20-4 in six innings. Tyndall pitched six innings, striking out eight batters. Eight hits were allowed, and Tyndall also walked a batter.

Cox once again led the Lady Stingers at the plate, as she was 4-5 with two runs batted in. Baylee Elms was 2-5 with three runs batted in. Bailey was 3-4 with three runs batted in and a walk. Gainey had a two-run homerun. Bailey was also walked twice, had a sacrifice, was hit by a pitch and earned three runs batted in.

The Lady Stingers have now won 18 games in a row. The team’s winning record is 20-4, and they are 10-0 in region.

On Thursday, March 22, the Lady Stingers will host Southeastern in a doubleheader at Old Cormell Field. The first game will begin at 3 p.m., followed by the second game at 5 p.m. The Lady Stingers will travel to play Wake Tech on Friday, March 23. Friday’s games will be played at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
