Murder suspects taken into custody

Darlington County Sheriff’s Investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division have obtained murder warrants for Ky’Ron Earl Jamal Peterson, 22, of Hartsville and Darius Cedric Gibson, 17, of Hartsville for the death of Dominic Alton Midgett. On September 5, Midgett was discovered deceased in a residential fire that occurred on Persimmons Dr. in the Hartsville area.

It is alleged that Peterson and Gibson shot Midgett, then attempted to cover up the homicide by placing his body in a mobile home and setting it on fire. Peterson and Gibson are also facing two counts of arson.

On September 16, Darlington County Sheriff’s Investigators were able to locate Peterson in Columbia. Peterson was arrested by agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and was found to be in possession of illegal narcotics. Peterson has been charged by SLED with distribution of methamphetamine and is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond. Peterson will be brought to Darlington County for arraignment upon release from the Lexington County Detention Center. Gibson was arrested on September 19 and denied bond on Sept 21. Gibson remains at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center.
