Motor Maids ride to help Lamar schools

On July 20, the South Carolina Motor Maids motorcycle group, under the leadership of Krissa Drentlaw of Summerville, hosted a fund-raising ride for Lamar area schools. The route ended at Cartersville Winery in Timmonsville. The Lamar Fire Department escorted the riders through town. The event raised more than $1,400, “with many boxes of supplies and pledges of more to come.” Town officials also thanked the Gallant Warriors of Darlington and the S.C. Buffalo Soldiers for their help. The event was organized by local Motor Maid and Duke Energy employee Elsie Viola.
