Mayor Boyd declares March 16-22 Brain Awareness Week
Mayor Curtis Boyd signed a proclamation declaring March 16-22 Brain Awareness Week and urged all citizens to express their support of this effort by the Pilot Club of Darlington and Pilot International. During Brain Awareness Week, Pilot Clubs join others to provide information about brain injuries and diseases affecting more than 150 million adults and children. This international effort includes hospitals, schools, government agencies, and community groups working together to expand interest in the brain, brain research and brain-related disorders. As one brain awareness activity, members of the Pilot Club of Darlington provide BrainMinder puppet shows to children to help prevent brain injury. The Club recently received a grant which helps them provide bicycle helmets to the children participating in the BrainMinder puppet shows.
