Lamar’s Wheeler signs to play football at Lackawanna College

Lamar High School star football player Randy Wheeler signed a letter of intent to play for Lackawanna College.

Lamar High School’s Randy Wheeler gathers for a photo with his parents, school administrators and head football coach on Thursday after he signed a letter of intent to play football for Lackawanna College in Pennsylvania.

The senior defensive end and defensive tackle helped guide the Silver Foxes to a 2015 Class A Division II state title and an appearance in the 2016 Class A state championship.

In his senior year, Wheeler racked up 101 total tackles, including seven for a loss and 4 1/2 sacks. He also recorded two fumble recoveries and a pass break-up.

The Lackawanna College Falcons are located in northeastern Pennsylvania and participate in the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Northeast Football Conference. The Falcons boasted a 10-1 overall record in 2016.
