Lady Stingers sweep Wake Tech, outscore Pitt at home

The Florence-Darlington Technical College Lady Stingers swept Wake Technical Community College on Friday 9-1 and 2-0, and the team beat Pitt Community College 6-1 in the Region 10 matchup on Saturday.

In the 9-1 victory over Wake Tech in the first game of the doubleheader at Old Cormell Field on Friday, Marissa Tyndall won the game on the mound with two strikeouts, only allowing three hits, a run and a walk.

Kristina Lee was 2-for-3 at the plate with 5 RBI, a two-run homerun, a double and a sacrifice fly to score a run. Erin Bailey was 3-for-4 with two singles and a solo homerun.

The Lady Stingers held Wake Tech scoreless in the 2-0 victory during the second game on Friday. Once again, it was Tyndall winning on the mound. Tyndall struck out four batters and allowed two hits and two walks.

Baylee Elms led the Lady Stingers in hitting at the plate, as she was 2-for-2 with a single and a solo homerun. Hanna Gainey was 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.

On Saturday, the Lady Stingers only played one of two games due to inclement weather. The Lady Stingers outscored Pitt 6-1 at Old Cormell Field. Tyndall swept the weekend on the mound as she struck out seven batters and only allowed three hits, a run and four walks en route to the victory.

Riley Boyle was 2-for-3 with two doubles. Gainey was 2-for-2 with two doubles. Tori Alexander was 4-for-4 with an RBI, and Shelby Cox was 2-for-4 with three RBI and a triple.

The Lady Stingers are now 31-6 overall and 18-1 in Region 10.

The team will host their final regular season homes games on Saturday, April 14 as they host Surry at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
