Lady Silver Foxes inch closer as Hartsville, Darlington get eliminated

The South Carolina High School League basketball playoffs started this past week and Darlington County was well represented with Darlington, Hartsville and Lamar High School each having at least one team participating.
Here we will take a look at all three high schools and recap how their quest in the playoffs is going at the present moment.

Darlington
Entering into this past week the Darlington Falcons and Lady Falcons looked like mirror images of each other. Both finished third in the region, both made the playoffs and both traveled to Orangeburg-Wilkinson to play their opening playoff game.
That mirror imaging continued unfortunately with both Falcons and Lady Falcons losing to the Bruins on back-to-back nights.
The Lady Falcons lost on Tuesday, February 13 by a score of 46-34 while the Falcons lost the night by a score of 58-52.

Hartsville
Like Darlington, both the Red Foxes and Lady Red Foxes made the playoffs and both finished second in the region
Unlike Darlington, however, the results for both teams were a mixed bag.
A.C. Flora upset the Lady Red Foxes at home on Tuesday, February 13, 50-43 in their opening playoff game, while the Red Foxes were able to defeat Lower Richland on Wednesday at home 51-38.
That win advanced the Red Foxes to the second round where it lost to Berkeley this past Saturday 63-54.

Lamar
Lamar only had its girls’ team make the playoffs, but the Lady Silver Foxes are quite the established program and in the first week of the playoffs they are showing it.
On February 12, Lamar kicked its playoff quest off with a convincing 57-28 win over Calhoun Falls and they followed that up with a 15-point, 50-35 victory over one-seeded Blackville-Hilda on the road this past Thursday.
Now all that stands in the way of the Lady Silver Foxes second straight upper state championship appearance is archrival Timmonsville.
The teams square off on February 19 in Timmonsville.
