Lady Cobras prevail over Broncos

The Coker College women’s basketball team prevailed over the visiting Fayetteville State University Broncos Nov. 18 56-51 in a non-conference battle. The Cobras evened their record at 2-2 with the victory. In the opening frame of play, the Cobras used a five-point run to extend their lead to 12-5 over the Broncos. Erin Houser began the run with a layup, followed by a layup from Hayley Kroop and a free throw by Shay Jackson. The Navy and Gold held their lead and finished the first quarter with a 15-10 advantage. After competitive second and third quarters, the Broncos took a 39-37 lead heading into the final frame of the game. Much like most of the game, Coker and Fayetteville State exchanged scores and were knotted up 51-51 with 35 seconds remaining. With the game on the line, the Cobras rose to the occasion and finished the game on a five-point run for the 56-51 win.
