Gill added to Esports roster

Coker College Director of Esports Joseph Rudy announced the addition of Jonathan Gill to the 2018-19 roster.
Gill joins Michael Ponton, Stephen Gifford-Reis, Justin Steeves, Madison Schmidt, and Aden Vermeersch on the esports squad.

“I am extremely excited to have Jonathan join us at Coker,” said Rudy. “His experience in the Overwatch scene is exactly what we need to be competitive during our first season. Jonathan and Madison [Schmidt] were teammates before coming to Coker, so I am excited to see what existing synergy the two players have.”

Gill is from Haymarket, Va., where he attended Battlefield High School. While attending Battlefield H.S., Gill was a member of the baseball and track and field teams for the Bobcats. Gill was crowned a conference champion in the pole vault. Outside of athletics, Gill was a member of the Choir Council and Mascot Corps. Most recently, Gill attended Viterbo University where he competed for the track and field team. Gill will play in the flexplayer spot in Overwatch for the Navy and Gold. He is the son of Mark and Lisa Gill. Jonathan plans to major in Music at Coker.
Gaming is more than a hobby — it represents community, competition, and passion. Accordingly, Coker College is moving to the forefront of collegiate esports.
