Former detention center officer arrested
Marcia Bailey Marine, age 46, of Hartsville, has been charged by agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division with assault and battery, third degree, for an incident that occurred January
17, 2017.
It is alleged that Marine, while employed as a correctional officer at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center, used an electroshock weapon on a handcuffed individual in the detention center. Sheriff Tony Chavis requested SLED to investigate following the incident. Marine has been terminated.
Marine was held at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center awaiting arraignment. She was released on a $1,087.00 cash or surety bond April 18.
