FMU Observatory dedicates new telescope

On September 7th, from 7 – 10 p.m., a public viewing session will be held at the Francis Marion University Observatory to dedicate their new 14-inch Meade telescope.

Some of the objects visitors will see are beautiful star clusters such as M11 and M13, the planetary nebula M57, double stars, the planets Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars, and the Andromeda Galaxy.

Parking is in Lot D with a short walk to the observatory. Bring a flashlight as it will be dark.
