First Presbyterian hosts Coker Music professor for free concert

First Presbyterian in Florence will hold a free concert on Nov. 12. Coker College professor Dr. Ryan F. Smith will perform the concert. An assistant professor of music at Coker College, Smith teaches both theory and piano courses. The event will start at 3 in the First Presbyterian Church Sanctuary.

Smith performed recently at Columbia Museum of Art, Piccolo Spoleto Festival and Palmetto Theatre. He also is a past winner in the Bob Jones University-University of South Carolina Recital Exchange Competition.

Smith earned his doctorate from University of South Carolina in piano performance, along with a minor in music history.

He received his undergraduate degree in piano performance from Furman University and master’s degree in biblical studies at Dallas Theological Seminary.
