Drug Unit completes three month investigation

Darlington County Sheriff Tony Chavis has announced the completion of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Unit into the distribution of methamphetamine, heroin, and other illegal narcotics. Investigators monitored several sales of illegal narcotics by a suspect over the course of three months. On September 24, Investigators served a search warrant on a residence near the area of Ousleydale Rd. and Patrick Hwy. Investigators discovered methamphetamine, amphetamine, crack cocaine, marijuana and diazepam inside the residence.

Investigators arrested Gaye Blakeney Alexander, 57, of Hartsville, Rena Morris, 28, of Hartsville, and Jessie Wayne Skinner, 36, of Cheraw.

“This investigation began with complaints from concerned citizens, and I want to encourage everyone to report any suspicious activity they see” Chavis said. “I want to thank my narcotics investigators for their continued hard work as they actively target areas throughout Darlington County.”

Alexander is facing four counts of distribution of methamphetamine, one count of distribution of heroin, one count of distribution of a scheduled III controlled substance, one count of possession of methamphetamine, one count of possession of crack cocaine, one count of possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, two counts of criminal conspiracy and one count of simple possession of marijuana. Alexander is currently being held on a $143,000 bond.
Morris is facing two counts of distribution of a schedule II controlled substance and one count of possession of a schedule IV controlled substance. Morris is currently being held on a $11,000 bond.
Skinner is facing one count of possession of methamphetamine. Skinner is being held on a $5,000 bond.
