Deputies arrest felon with gun

On September 2, while Darlington County Sheriff’s Deputies were on scene at the Darlington Burger King investigating an armed robbery they recovered a loaded revolver with five bullets, meth, crack cocaine and marijuana from an individual.

Deputies arrested Gregory Lamont Benjamin, 32, of Hartsville. Benjamin has been charged with distribution of cocaine base, possession of less than one gram of meth, possession of a firearm by a convicted violent felon, and simple possession of marijuana.

Benjamin was released on a $10,000 surety bond in March having been charged with assault and battery, first degree, and has since been indicted. Benjamin is being held at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center on a $11,000 surety bond.
